           Not much is known about Alvaro’s youth, but by his late twenties he had already become a respectable mercenary and raider in the criminal world. His life turned around when he was commissioned to help in the kidnapping of Princess Amua of the Halmax system. Disillusioned by the atrocities commited by the local warlords and inspired by her determination in combatting their advances, he turned on his employers and provided needed aid to the Halmax cause. Having something to live for other than himself, he became an officer in the the royal guard, and eventually a relationship blossomed between the two. Despite their arguments and seemingly incompatible personalities, they complemented each other well.

         All that changed when Amua’s father brokered an arranged marriage with a rival politician, forcing her to choose between duty and love. This was further complicated by the suitor’s being a agreeable man himself. Unable to cope with the situation, Alvaro kidnapped Amua and brought her to a backwater planet. In reality, this was a means to simplify the decision for Amua, knowing she could never respect a man who treated her thus. As he had planned, his new sanctuary was found by the bounty hunter the King had hired, and he was “forced” to leave Amua to flee to a more earnest hiding place. Depressed from the loss of his love and purpose, he considered slow suicide or a return to crime.

         What he did not foresee was that said bounty hunter would also puzzle out his new location. Fortunately, Pyrodox had also figured out the true reason behind Alvaro’s actions. Impressed with his cunning and altruism, he offered him a place in the Church of Revenance, which Alvaro hesitatingly accepted. [1]

         Alvaro now works as a privateer for the Church, although, as far as the Galaxy is concerned, he is not much more than a relatively successful free-lance pirate. Despite his intimidating demeanor and apparent aggression, Alvaro is honorable and follows a strict moral code. He also acts like a lady’s man despite never having known any woman after his relationship with Amua. He still mulls over this to date, although he has a very slight crush on Sorova Roussimoff, a kindred soul who is also bound by failed romance. He seems oblivious to the crush his fellow privateers the Soriano Sisters have on him.
